Corte Madera FC Scholarship Fund is a nonprofit organization founded and run by local parents to support the participation of youth soccer players in the Corte Madera FC competitive program through the provision of financial assistance.
No. The Scholarship Fund is an independent entity with its own board.
The Scholarship Fund is needed for several reasons, primarily:
Administrative
Corte Madera FC is a community soccer club hosted by the Town of Corte Madera Parks & Recreation Department, which manages registration and payment for participation in Corte Madera FC programs.
With this set up, Corte Madera FC differs from other youth soccer clubs in that it does not have the ability to administer its own financial assistance program. The Town of Corte Madera offers scholarships for participation in its programming, but the value of these scholarships does not approach the cost of competitive soccer.
The Corte Madera FC Scholarship Fund seeks to provide fee subsidies to cover this gap and ensure that all invited players are able to participate.
Financial
Competitive youth soccer requires a high level of commitment from players and their families.
To develop their soccer skills, players must demonstrate focus, motivation, and dedication. Any player who is invited to join a competitive team has truly earned the opportunity to play.
To support a player, a family must purchase uniforms and equipment, pay program and tournament fees, and devote significant time and funds to travel throughout the season.
Depending on the age/level of the player and their related team costs, the total amount per player can range from $1,500 to $3,000+. For some families in our community this is cost prohibitive.
The Scholarship Fund was established in 2023.
To fulfill its mission, the Scholarship Fund partners with three organizations:
Corte Madera FC - the community soccer club.
Town of Corte Madera Parks & Recreation Department - hosts Corte Madera FC and manages registration and payment for participation in Corte Madera FC programs.
Corte Madera Community Foundation - a local volunteer foundation that provides support for events, public facilities, projects, programs, and services that improve the quality of life in Corte Madera, build community spirit and enhance Corte Madera’s small-town character.
We are also proud to be sponsored and supported by a number of local and regional businesses, including Soccer Kids. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact us.
No. The Scholarship Fund is focused on supporting participation in Corte Madera FC’s competitive program. If you are interested in financial assistance for the recreational soccer program, please apply to the Town of Corte Madera Scholarship Program.
No. The Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance by subsidizing the required program fees. Families will need to cover other costs such as uniforms, equipment, tournament fees, and travel to games and tournaments.
Corte Madera FC programs are open to non-residents, and we seek to support participation of all scholarship-eligible players who earn a place on a competitive team. As we disburse funds, we prioritize local residents.
No. Given the changing circumstances of applicants’ financial needs and fluctuations in the finances of the Scholarship Fund, scholarship recipients must re-apply for assistance each season.
The Scholarship Fund relies on monetary donations from individuals and business organizations. We also coordinate fundraising events and activities, both in partnership with Corte Madera FC and independently.
